Wonder would there be any interest in doing the Goldfield track (website has this name ).
It basically runs from Bendigo to Ballarat following mostly the old walking track and for most part requires a mountain bike or perhaps a tough tourer.
There is also the Okeefe rail trail presently running east of Bendigo for 27km,(will be extended in 2015)
The current issue of RIDEON has an article.
Please advise if interested.
Am currently thinking of doing it in April

GOLDFIELDS TRACK & OKEEFE RAIL TRAIL
In response to Michaels post.train connections from Melbourne are available at both ends and also Creswick and
Castlemaine.
I am trying to hire a Mountain bike in MELB as this will save a lot of hassle at the airports.
No response received to date so will do it some time this year before summer
Copy of the Ride On article can be emailed to anybody interested.
There is now a commercial operator offering transport, bike hire etc….. cumberlandhouse

Hi Merv,
Send me a copy of the Ride On article.
This looks like a pretty tough track to ride.
50ks on a track like this is like 100ks on the road.
Don’t know if it could be done in 4 days i.e. 50ks a day.
But this splits nicely into sections with a town at the end of each days ride.
No need to carry tent, sleeping bag and food, which is a great advantage.
Luggage needs to be minimal.
