Bruce, Dana, Stephen and Michael did this tour through the back country commencing Saturday 12th October and scheduled to finish on Friday 18th. A total distance of about 500 km depending on what route was selected. As it happened, Bruce and Stephen made it all the way but Michael and Dana took the train back from Goulburn on Wednesday, one day before the bush fires took hold in Springwood, Winmalee and Bell.

The weather was typical of spring time, windy and variable. Temperatures on the first two days approached 30 degrees and the wind from the west was 20 knots at gusty. The wind was with us in one way or another for the first four days. Day 3 was a headwind and steady climb all day.The morning of the fourth day brought a frost with a daytime maximum not much more than 15 degrees. The Boorowa hotel where we spent the night before had a roaring log fire.

The caravan parks in the smaller towns, Cudal and Boorowa, were a revelation: cheap, clean and almost deserted.

Like the happy tourer pics at the end in Kiama.

Boorrawa is a great little spot, have to get back there one day. The ride to Crookwell was a beauty when Ross Scott and I did it a few years ago.

Good to have a write up on another successful club tour, I have done the route in the comfort of a car a pleasant trip.
